Troopers from across the Dune Sea Garrison converged on Sierra Vista on November 11th to celebrate those who serve our great nation, by participating in the 20th Annual Veteran’s Day Parade. Thirteen troopers gathered in the early morning chill for the long walk to the staging area, where they lined up alongside ROTC cadets, active duty military units from nearby Ft. Huachuca, and veterans of all ages. It seemed fitting that of the troopers present, 10 were veterans as well. Both active duty and retired servicemen from the Army and the Air Force.
As the marching band played a medley of patriotic favorites, the mighty 501st made its way down Sierra Vista’s main thoroughfare, giving plenty of high fives, photo opportunities, and words of encouragement to the crowds of onlookers lining both sides of the street. At the end of the parade route, the weary troopers took time to talk to fans and pose for more pictures before departing the event. All in all, it was a great day for the veterans, the fans, and the troopers alike.
