New and Veteran Member Costume Reminders: GML Team

Greetings Prospective and Veteran Members of the Dune Sea Garrison!

It's been an awesome seeing all the new costumes coming across the GML Team's desks as of late and you all have kept us pretty busy. This is a great thing and we wanted to share a couple of items that would make our lives, and ultimately yours, infinitely easier when it comes to reviewing your submissions.

1.) Pictures - These are critically important! They must be clear and crisp with no color washout or blurriness. Remember, that we take your submission photos and place them against the CRL listing from the 501st Legion site in order to approve the submission. If they are blurry or washed out we have difficulty verifying the details for approval. If this happens we have no choice but to kick it back to pending and request a new set of photos. If you are able follow these guidelines:
2.) Take them in sunlight using a contrasting smooth backdrop.
3.) Avoid the use of flashes
4.) Review them for clarity before you submit them for approval
Again, the pics are what we use for BOTH the approval AND they are submitted to Legion Command by the GWL to be included in the records. Also note if there are any small details such as greeblies, chest armor configurations (TIE Pilot, Snowie, etc) or specific sewing patterns that are part of the CRL and take a detail photos of those areas.

2.) Dressing and fitment - Take time to compare your costume with the CRL pictures provided and make any adjustments necessary to make the two match. Give your costume a good pressing if needed and get those unsightly wrinkles out of your uniform. Image that Lord Vader is coming for an inspection...would he be pleased with your uniform or would you end up like Captain Needa? Please do not try to iron your hard armor as that probably wouldn't be a good idea but if you have armor make sure it looks squared away before you take those glamour shots.

Please keep those submissions coming! We love to see the Garrison growing in new faces and new costumes so don't stop! If you haven't looked through the CRLs in awhile you'll be surprised at all the new costumes that have been added and from what I've seen more are on the way. 2018 Reminder: Review the email at the top!

Please take the pictures in strong natural light, with minimal to no shadows, against a solid contrasting background. We may also ask for additional photos during the review process. the more intricate the costume the more pictures we will need to verify all the items in the CRL.

Veteran members if you are submitting a new costume don't forget to add it in the database before you submit.

Here's how you go about it:
Login to the Legion forums
Upper left side you will see "Membership DB"
Click to open new dialogue window
Under "Self" select "Your Profile Data"
Under "Your 501st Approved Costumes" select "Edit"
In "Submit Pending" select the costume you are working on then select the "Submit" soft button
Select "Done"
The costume will now show in "Pending Costumes"

REMINDER! For all new submissions the pictures MUST be clear. We have new guidelines from the Legion LMO that specifies how the pictures should look. Please review the above posts and submit any questions you might have to the GML/GWL team. Use a contrasting sheet or similar backdrop with good lighting when you take your pictures so the GWL can get them properly photoshopped and submitted to the Legion. Take the time to do it right the first time and it won't get returned to you. We live in AZ and most houses are stucco which makes the job a zillion times harder so use a backdrop as mentioned. Thank you Peter! Also I just wanted to add, please do not take photos against busy backgrounds such as Stucco, Drapes, Garage doors with lots of detail and relief. It makes it very time consuming to clean the back grounds out for posting to the legion.
