Post by spacemunkey777 » Sat Jun 29, 2019 8:30 am

Does anyone have a good link for a standard scout build with all the trimmings? Maybe even a boot build tutorial? Startingy build and looking for some guidance I've looked thru the pathfinders group and there are so many gets a little confusing. Thanks in advance!

Sinceraly

Franticly building for celebration!

boot tutorial: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index ... -tutorial/

assembling tutorial: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index ... -tutorial/

I would definitely start a project like this but looking into it money is an issue, can't afford dropping $1300 on a kit, plus I don't even have the tools ><

It wont cost that much, especially if you know how to sew. The hardest part of a scout build is the flight suit. If you are interested, PM me as I might be able to get you in a kit for much cheaper than a grand.

I thought the complete total will end up around that amount?

I’m interested in either scout or tie pilot for now. Although I’m not understanding why the pilot kit is worth as much as a tk when it has less pieces, perhaps I’m just not looking in the right places.

I wonder if it’s better to buy a 3d printer and print my own for the amount of money people charge for a costume kit.

I've built a couple scouts.
Plastic (new, you can always find one cheaper used): $670
Flight suit, base garment: $50
Suede, elastic, etc for flight suit "scoutification": $50
Flak Vest (DIY) anywhere from free to $15 for materials.
Boots (Best boots in my opinion are KMart Texas Steer KMAX2): $20
Vinyl/velcro for boot construction: $15, probably less
Material for Cumberbund/cod: $25, probably less
Miscellaneous materials (the kits don't usually have enough velcro/elastic): $20
Balaclava $20

I may be missing something, but that totals up to less than a grand. Heck you can even thrown in a blaster and still come in under a thousand.

Really, the only obstacle is getting stuff sewn up. I taught myself how to use a sewing machine when I built my kit. It's not pro-quality, but it makes the kids smile.

This is great i will for sure be hitting you up once i finish up my New Mando and get it approved than im gonna start hard on the scout. I was just going to purchase the flight suit and diaper from etsy saw a deal for about 380 but the boots i actually wanted to take a crack at first building myself before i purchase them.
